May 25-26, 2012 Airbrushing and Fish Painting Techniques $250.00 Painting the Bluegill and the
Brown Trout
This will be two days devoted totally to painting, both with an airbrush and an artist`s brush.
First I will explain and demonstrate the use of different types of airbrushes and also their
cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You are encouraged to bring and use your own or if you
are new to airbrushing, or you can use one of the airbrushes that have been provided by Badger. My
two favorite airbrushes are the Badger 100G, for all around airbrush work, and the new Badger
Renegade Jet for the extreme fine details.
The good people of Badger Airbrushes have been kind enough to furnish these airbrushes to the class
for whoever would like to use one. We will also explore the use of brushing on powdered luster
pigments, Shiva sticks, stencil paints, charcoal pencils, Treasure Gold Waxes and Jeff Lumsden`s
"Liquid Scales" as well as other scale tipping methods. We will paint two fish castings, a Brown
Trout and Bluegill, the cost of which is included in the workshop.
I will show you how to "read" reference photos and mentally breakdown the colors, spots, shapes,
patterns and placements to determine the order of application of all the different colors and
features without being held captive to other people`s paint schedules. Hopefully you`ll come away
with some new ammo in your painting arsenal and are encouraged to confidently tackle that
hard-to-paint fish you have been avoiding.
