Created and carved entirely from wood, the winning woodcarving/sculpture titled, "Brown Beauty" is a river snapshot that is recreated every early fall on certain Montana trout streams such as the Yellowstone and the Big Horn. As the water temperature warms throughout the summer and into fall, great "blooms" of moss grow and float downstream only to be caught on various snags in the river.

"As the male brown trout move closer in time to the frenzy of the spawn, his skin toughens, his head becomes elongated into a bullish form and his vibrant colors have the ability to surprise even the most experienced fisherman. This is absolutely, without a doubt, the most beautiful and respected trout in the river and I just love 'em." Clark Schreibeis

Schreibeis was born in Wyoming and raised in Montana. His passion for wildlife of all types is evident in his carvings with the species of the Rocky Mountain west (and Montana`s trout in particular) being his primary focus. He has had a life-long love affair with rivers and the myriad of species that make their home in and around their life-giving waters.
